Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien (2001 - 2007)

DSChien_crop.jpgH.E. Mr. Nguyen Tam Chien was born in Nghe An Province, central Vietnam, on January 20, 1948.

August 2001: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United States of America.

August 2000: Granted title Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

August 1997: Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, exclusively in charge of economic affairs and multilateral affairs, international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

1996 to 1997: Assistant Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

1992 to 1996: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Japan.

1984 to 1992: Deputy Director General (1988) and Director General (1990) Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

1980 to 1982: Desk officer at the Soviet Union Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

1975 to 1980: Attache at the Vietnam Embassy in Moscow.

1973 to 1975: Desk officer at the Soviet Union Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

1972 to 1973: Vietnamese Embassy in Moscow.

1972: Join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Education:

1972: Graduated from the Engineering University in the former Soviet Union as an electrical/mechanical engineer.

1982 to 1984: Attended the Moscow Diplomacy Academy, Master's Degree in International Relations.

Foreign languages: Russian and English.

Marital status: Married with two sons and one daughter.

Ambassador Le Van Bang (1995 - 2001)

lebang.bmpH.E. Mr. Le Van Bang was born in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam, on June 30, 1947.

2/1997 – 6/2001: Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador E.P of Vietnam to the United States.

8/1995 – 2/1997: Charge d'affairs A.I of Vietnam to the United States.

2/1995 – 8/1995: Director of Liaison Office of Vietnam to the United States

1/1993 – 1/1995: Ambassador, Acting Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations.

1990 - 1992: Director General of American Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

1986 - 1990:  American Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

1982 - 1986: Third Secretary, Embassy of Vietnam in U.K

He speaks English and Spanish. He is married and have 2 children.
