New progresses recorded in Vietnam-US relations

(VNA) New progresses have been made in the relationship between Vietnam and the US. Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan and US Senator James Webb shared the view at their meeting at a reception in HCM City on July 6.

The city’s mayor highlighted the US Senator’s contributions to enhancing the two countries’ diplomatic ties and boosting mutual understanding and healing the war’s wounds.

He took the occasion to thank the Senator for his assistance to Vietnamese nationals living in the US .

Webb, who is also Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia and Pacific Affairs of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, told the host that more than 2 million Vietnamese people are residing in the US and that he will make further contributions to promoting the friendship bridge linking the Vietnamese people living in the country and the US.

Quan praised Senator Webb’s fine sentiments towards the Vietnamese people, confirming that HCM City and Vietnam will create favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to visit homeland./.
