July 2, 2010 - VN/US relations

(VNA) A delegation of diplomats from the Vietnam Embassy to the US on June 30 paid a visit to the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush docking in Norfolk Base, Virginia state.

The visit was part of activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Vietnam – US diplomatic relations.

The delegation, led by Deputy Chief of Mission Nguyen Tien Minh, was received and guided by Rear Admiral Michelle Howard, Commander of Expeditionary Strike Group Two, and Captain DeWolfe Miller, commanding officer.

Speaking at the reception, Rear Admiral Howard said Vietnam and the US were maritime nations, and because of that they had "common goals and common interests"./.
