Appointment Of Honorary Consul Of Viet Nam In Hawaii

On July 18th, 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son signed the Decision appointing Mr. Daniel Paul Leaf as Honorary Consul of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.

 

Mr. Daniel Paul Leaf is a retired Lieutenant General of the United States Air Force and former Deputy Commander of the Pacific Command. For a long time, Lt Gen (Ret) Daniel Paul Leaf has made significant contributions, promoting the comprehensive partnership (now comprehensive strategic partnership) between Viet Nam and the United States.

 

After being approved by the US Department of State, the Vietnamese Honorary Consulate in Honolulu headed by Lt Gen (Ret) Daniel Paul Leaf officially came into operation and Lt Gen (Ret) Daniel Paul Leaf became the first-ever Honorary Consul of Viet Nam in the United States.

 

The Embassy of Viet Nam in the United States and Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dzung would like to express thanks and appreciation to the US Department of State,  the Office of Foreign Missions and relevant US agencies for accepting the approval and support for the Vietnamese Honorary Consulate in Honolulu to come into operation. We would like to congratulate Lt Gen (Ret) Daniel Paul Leaf on becoming the Honorary Consul of Viet Nam in Honolulu and wish him a successful term.
