The Vietnamese Embassy in Washington D.C. has held a ceremony to celebrate the country’s 63rd National Day (Sept. 2).
The ceremony was attended by about 300 guests, including Congressman Eni Faleomavaega – Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia , the Pacific and the Global Environment under the House’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ms. Henrietta H. Fore – Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
On April 15, hundreds of Vietnamese living and studying in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, and Vietnamese Embassy staffs came to solemnly honor the Founding Fathers of the Vietnamese nation at the Embassy of Vietnam on the Hung Kings Memorial Day (Le Gio To Hung Vuong - the 10th of third lunar month).
Ambassador Le Cong Phung has praised Vietnam Education Foundation fellows for their efforts in collecting books and finding resources from around the US and the world in support for the establishment of public libraries in Vietnam.
On April 9, Ambassador Le Cong Phung visited the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.
During the visit, Ambassador Phung met and spoke with professors and students at the Southeast Asia Studies Program on Vietnam's recent socio-economic development, the success of Doi Moi, or renovation, and on Vietnam - US relations.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the United States of America Le Cong Phung presented his letter of credence to US President George W. Bush on January 22, 2008 in Washington DC.
